Phoenix Youth and Family Services builds safe pathways and strong supports for families in Ashley, Bradley, Chicot, Desha and Drew counties. Our work follows a simple idea we call Wellness to Work: when families are healthy, fed and supported, people are ready to work, and when people are working, whole communities grow stronger.
That is why our community events double as training grounds. Local workers earn paid work experience in hospitality, customer service, logistics and project management while they serve their neighbors. Phoenix then supports them into jobs and stays with them after placement.
At Spring into Wellness this May, all six workers in our cohort trained with paid work experience, and 2.4 tons of food reached local families.

PYFS Gratitude Week 2026 is November 19–21! Since 2024, we’ve increased the number of holiday meal boxes we give out by more than 233%. This year, our staff and volunteers will visit seven cities in five counties over three days. And we’re doing more than giving out food. We’re helping families connect to health care, local services, and programs that can lead to better jobs and brighter futures.
For more than 30 years, Phoenix Youth & Family Services (PYFS) has worked to help families grow stronger and communities move forward. Our mission to support youth and families has grown into a larger effort to create better lives across Southeast Arkansas.
That same belief is at the heart of PYFS Gratitude Week 2026. We know it’s hard to focus on finding a job, learning new skills, or building a better future when you’re worried about feeding your family. That’s why we listen to families, learn what they need, and connect them to health services, job training, and local support. Our goal is simple: help families put food on the table today and build a better future tomorrow.
